HARRISONBURG, Va. — The Daily News-Record reported Sunday that the Washington Redskins and former James Madison University defensive end J.D. Skolnitsky are close to a contract agreement.
Skolnitsky participated in the team’s rookie camp over the weekend and was reportedly offered a three-year, $1.2 million deal, which would take effect if he makes it through the team’s training camp.
The 6-foot-5, 263-pounder finished his junior year in the Fall, but tested positive for a banned substance during the Dukes’ playoff run, earning him a one-year ban and the end of his college career.
Skolnitsky said the positive ban was the result of a weight-gain supplement, which he didn’t have checked by the JMU coaching staff.
