Zackery Turner, 18, from Charlottesville, pled guilty Thursday for killing 19-year-old Reginald “Shay” Nicholson, from Staunton.
Turner pled guilty to the first-degree murder of Nicholson, as part of a plea agreement made with the Rockingham County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and filed Wednesday in Rockingham County Circuit Court.
According to the agreement, Turner will serve 30 years in prison and 28 years of suspended prison time with 10 years of supervised probation upon his release.
Turner has agreed to help police find the murder weapon.
Gregory Baker, 20, Jahmaine Faqiri, 18, and Ricky Parrish, 21, face charges of felony malicious wounding by mob and felony gang participation in association with the case.
All are from Ruckersville, including Demonds Parrish, 19, who is charged with misdemeanor assault by mob and felony gang participation. Their cases are ongoing.
Nicholson was shot Nov. 9 after leaving a party in the Hunters Ridge apartment complex.

Got something to say?

This is horrible- what this means is that the malicious person who killed Shay is getting 2 years in prison for murdering a fellow human being.
I’m pretty sure you could get the same prison sentance for theft. Absolutely terrible; my heart goes out to his family.
I don’t read it that way. I read it as he will serve 30 years, on top of 28yrs that have been suspended. He would have served 58 years…but maybe thats just me.
