With financial aid requests increasing, JMU created the Madison For Keeps program, a fundraising initiative that provides emergency aid to students in need. Due to financial crises, many students are on the verge of dropping out of school. More than 2,000 alumni, employees and friends of the university have contributed donations to the program to keep financial-risk students in school.
As of Wednesday the program raised $206,222 and helped 45 students. We’d like to see all students in need of financial assistance return to the university after holiday break, and through the donations to Madison For Keeps, most will be able to do so.
We applaud the generosity of those involved, as well as JMU’s quick action in a time of need.
