HARRISONBURG, Va. — Old Glory has been returned to a Harrisonburg woman’s home where it belongs. Pat Doorenbos, a resident of the 1100 block of Hillcrest Drive, found her American flag Tuesday morning folded up in a ceremonial triangle on her doormat. The flag, which flew over the United States Capitol 11 years ago, was stolen Feb. 23. HARRISONBURG, Va. — The controversial reality TV star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi will appear March 3 in front of a full house at the Memorial Auditorium. Junior Stephen Eure, the public relations director for the University Program Board, said tickets quickly sold out Wednesday afternoon after going on sale 8 a.m. Monday. “Before Wednesday we just had 30 tickets left for the event,” Eure said. Acker to Leave JMU After Marijuana Possession Charge HARRISONBURG, Va. — Corwin Acker, a sophomore running back, is no longer a member of the Dukes’ football team. JMU announced Acker’s dismissal Tuesday afternoon because of a violation of the team rules. Acker was charged Monday for possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. HARRISONBURG, Va. — Senior accounting major Matt Lawless finds his job delivering for Tutti Gusti exponentially more difficult when snow falls. “My manager had to drive me around in his Jeep, because my car wasn’t good for the snow,” Lawless said. “Even in his car, there was definitely some gliding, some brakes locking.” Since the snow began falling last Friday morning, several local restaurants have lost delivery business. Firearm Brandisher Pleads

HARRISONBURG, Va. — A Hampton resident was found guilty Wednesday for brandishing a firearm at three JMU students in September in the Stone Gate apartment complex. Russell Malizia, 23, a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, entered a plea bargain in Rockingham/Harrisonburg General District Court. Malizia received a $250 fine and 12 months unsupervised probation for his actions. It was also reported that Malizia was ordered to surrender his gun to the Marine Corps. Student Gets Through To Family in Haiti

HARRISONBURG, Va. — After the largest earthquake recorded in the region hit Haiti’s capitol Port-au-Prince Tuesday, one JMU senior has finally been able to make contact with his family. Patrick Eugene, a computer science major, is from Pétionville, a suburb of Haiti’s capitol city where a hospital collapsed moments after the earthquake.
