The Republican Party’s religious intolerance should not countermand our nation’s religious freedoms. In years past on Sept. 11, ground zero in lower Manhattan has been a place for public tributes, memorial events and grieving families. However, this year will be different. The Necessity of Regulation

The conservative mantra is to keep traditional values. Let the markets fix themselves, institute tax cuts to the top 20 percent and the wealth will trickle-down. The problem with tax cuts to the wealthy is that they lead to budget cuts. The problem with budget cuts is that they lead to middle and lower class citizens suffering. Rewriting History

It seems that a strategy among some Republican leaders recently has been to attempt to rewrite history. It’s a bold approach. If they can’t get what they want legislatively, why not change what future generations learn through their textbooks and culture? Last week, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell declared April to be Confederate History Month, but made no mention of slavery in his proclamation. Successful Health Care Reform Puts Confidence Back into America’s Future. On Sunday night, the House of Representatives made history with the passage of the health care reform bill. According to the Associated Press, this new law will bring health insurance to 32 million currently uninsured Americans. Almost everyone will be required to buy health care with an exemption for low income families, starting in 2014. The $938 billion bill will be paid in part by tax dollars.
