Three JMU students have been charged with felonious assault and malicious wounding by mob after allegedly attacking another individual in a parking lot on Port Republic Road last Friday. Junior Markus W. Hunter, 20, from High Point, N.C., Connor J. Long, 19, and Colin Fitz-Maurice, 20, from Newtown, Penn., were arrested shortly after leaving the Liberty gas station around 11 p.m., Sept. 18, following the alleged assault. The Pub Faces $1,750 in Fines

HARRISONBURG, Va. — After being charged in June with five alcohol-related violations, The Pub will not have to close its doors for any period of time, according to the Wednesday announcement by the Alcohol Beverage Control Board. Robert O’Neal, chief administrative hearing officer for ABC, dismissed three of the more serious charges, upholding two, which will result in a $1,750 fine for The Pub or a 17-day suspension of its liquor license. Hit-and-Run Trial Delayed

The three-day trial for the former bartender of The Pub has been postponed from Tuesday to Jan. 11. Bethany Baker Jones is charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. The charges are in conjunction with a Jan. 6 incident, where Jones allegedly struck jogger Sherry Anderson, a JMU employee. Jones was leaving work in the early morning hours and allegedly hit Anderson on South Main Street near Port Republic Road. Three Students Arrested After Party Fight

The victims of an off-campus fight sought warrants for the arrest of three JMU students for alleged assault or battery by a mob. At 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 6 attendees of a party on Snowberry Lane in Copper Beech began spilling out of the building into the front yard, according to Mary-Hope Gangwer, spokeswoman for Harrisonburg Police. While driving, freshman Chad Henderson occasionally finds himself steering with his knee. “I know it’s dangerous,” Henderson said. But like many students, he sends text messages while driving.
